Bridge pickup prob!

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey y'all!
On my jazz bass I prefer to play on the bridge pickup because it cuts throught better and I prefer the sound.I've only recently started to play there all the time.I've noticed thought I must keep my forearm straight vertical for leverage. This leads to pain in my forearm and tiredness.
Anyone know whats up?

Thanks

Mike O Connell

I think that you're probably pressing on the bass to take some of the strain off your shoulder that holding your arm up is putting there. I recommend you move the bass so that your arm can hang straight from the shoulder and the bass's neck is closer to vertical than usual. I'm not sure if that's possible with traditional strap button placement, but it works well. Then your arm can hang naturally and your forearm comes at the strings from the side.
