bruising on my right hipbone...***?

Sign in to disble this ad
Okay so I'm really skinny and thus, have no padding to speak of on my hips. Consequently, I've started to get bruising on my right hipbone because of where my bass rubs against me. I don't think it will help to change my strap height because as it is, I keep my bass pretty high and can't really go any higher comfortably. I've been trying to figure out what I'm doing to cause this to happen and I generally keep pretty still when I play, so I have no idea...I think it's just how I'm built. Does this happen to anyone else? What the hell do I do about it?! Sorry for the weird question. I'm just kinda...perplexed.

Try adding cushion by means of toilet paper or hold the bass a bit steadier. Either way, you can get used to it.

Toilet paper? Hm, maybe something a little classier like a scarf around my waist or something? :P

Can you get some self adhesive foam and stick it on the back of your bass where it's hitting your hip? You should be able to find some at a craft store or maybe a home improvement store. Probably doesn't need to be all that thick, maybe 1/8" or 1/4"

-1000 on the toilet paper. Imagine having a wad of toilet paper coming out of your pant leg at a gig...

You need fat. That's about it. Lol. Or try your bass a few inches lower.

Yeah, you guys could stand to eat a few more donuts in the morning. The standard 3 Boston Cremes clearly isn't enough for you.

Wait...you mean, you don't make sure you eat your daily dose of Boston Creme? Strange!

Fold up a disposable diaper and tape it to your hip under your clothes.

My boyfriend suggested a couch cushion under my shirt, or over it...or INSTEAD of it, if I really want to make a statement. For now, I shift my weight (what little there is of it) to my left leg a bit more, which seems to keep me from leaning into my bass so much. Maybe over time, my hipbone will wear a groove into the back of the body. I'm 29 years old and I laugh at all the people who told me at age 10 that eating half a box of Oreos every day would catch up to me someday...so far, it hasn't. It's either because I'm vegan, or just lucky. Are donuts vegan?

Raise the bass so its up higher and not bumping against your hip. Your wrists and hands will thank you too.

I had this happen to me too. I realized I was putting alot of pressure on my bass with my wrist/palm of my right hand, and that was what was pushing my bass into my hip. Maybe that's what your doing too.

I have the same problem. I wear a bondage belt and it keeps the bass from hitting my hips... Punk Rock Clothing - Angry, Young and Poor

They are if there's no cream or chocolate and they're fried in vegetable oil.

BTW, I don't think we need to be encouraging thin gals to gain weight

Spaz- that's hot, I'll check it out. I might raise my strap height, we'll see. I'm somehow built sort of lankily (if that's a word) despite only being 5'6" and about 95 pounds. I need a better strap too. My birthday is February 17th and I like leopard print.
