Lightbulb Brushbass technique

I posted this on rockabillybass.com and thought it might be of interest to you cats too.

It`s a contraption that I made that allows me to play bass and a drum beat at the same time with a snare brush through my fingers.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tUSnod37b9Q The technique is based on 50`s Nashville country bands who weren`t allowed to have drums at the Grand Ole Opry so a few crafty basseys found a way around it with a drum attachment screwed into the belly of the bass.

My addition was to modify this Gazinkey to be removable, smaller and electrified via a condenser mic/preamp that can send signal to the P.A. There is also a second video up explaining how to make one if your so inclined. Cheers.....Alec

I found it wasn`t that difficult but your knuckles can hurt a bit at first till you learn to relax. When I learned to shuffle with it, that`s when it became more fun. The acoustic version is just a sponge with a coated drumskin glued to it and only takes five minutes to make.

Here`s the link to the other video that shows you how to make one complete with mumbles and seniors moments http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nePvFVa_eUU ....alec
