I can do a bit, but I don't really play guitar. It can sound very cool if done well, but otherwise it just gets very clunky and out of place. I think slapping works best on acoustic guitars, electrics are too sharp and don't have enough body in their tone to support the attack of a slap or pop.

Wow, I'd been working on popping my acoustic, but the idea of good slaps hadn't occurred to me! -woodshed-

I don't know how to slap a guitar, but I've sure wanted to slap some guitarists.

just because something doesnt please your tastes doesnt mean he sucks...reggie wooten is amazing at slap...he can lay it down on a bass too, in fact hed probably be a lot more popular if it werent for vic overshadowing him....

go to youtube and type in reggie wooten and check out the slap battle that him and vic have, its nuts.

I can slap on a guitar, it is harder because it is quite tight, but it took me about 30 minutes before I got used to it. I like the sound of it on both electric and acoustic.

Reggie makes more noise than music, IMHO. It's all muting, whereas Vic can groove and will play melodies and non-slap sounding solos.

i agree with you, but thats what hes going for, i personally would MUCH rather listen to vic, it was just out of line of him to say he sucks...id like to see anyone in here do that stuff.

Buckethead anyone?
Everytime he slaps, he plays the same line, but, it's still impressive nonetheless.

This video shows an awesome example, to me, of what slap guitar can really do. It's just as funky as bass could ever be.
