| | | | Can anyone play The Day of the Baphomets bass solo? Nuts. Juan Alderete said he recorded the whole thing in one take too, and plays it pretty effortlessly live. The 32nd notes are all two finger plucking. Low action and light gauge strings would be extremely helpful, to get the clack he does and just plain get around that fast. Can three finger technique pull it off?
Also, check out that cool line at 3:38. |

| | | | That's probably my favorite Mars Volta song, but I've never been interested in learning the solo because I don't want it to lose its magic, |

Wish the bass was a little more forefront in the mix though. I guess it helps that he played bass in Racer X.

NOBODY in a Bar will recognize it...... | Well if it isn't buzz killington. First of all, it's good to learn crazy stuff like this because it can open doors to your playing. And lest we all forget, when I was an impressionable young musician, ELP, King Crimson, Yes, and other bands of that ilk were all over the FM radio waves.
Things tend to be cyclic. Learn all you like, digest, and create. Nothing wrong in that.

Also, check out that cool line at 3:38. | it is all a matter of perspective ... while tapping the beat I think it is more 16th note ... juste faster and thus maybe easier to breakdown.
it isn,t like it is impossible to play that, it just take time and break thing in a fashion that can be learned.
