Changing to a pick

I'm going to make the move from fingers to the pick after 15 years. I've never used a pick and I have usually played in rock bands.

I am actually enjoying it a bit. I might not go back!

DO I get a cookie?

Naw, its time to diversify! I use a pick probly about 45 to 50% of the time, just when I feel like I need the tone(play modern rock and a couple classic rock covers).

Playing with a pick is great! Though I tend to play fingerstyle more often on bass, probably out of habit.

Guitar I almost exclusively flatpick these days--used to be more into fingerstyle when I went through my percussive guitar stage.

Before I used pick 90% of the time. Now, I play more and more with fingers but I still like using a pick when it's fast or when it has to have a "modern tone".

I actually HAD to use a pick today because my middle finger started cramping up. Even if you hate the tone a pick makes I still think it`s 100% necessary to learn how to play with one and well.

*Cookie* I learned on a pick, then changed to fingerstyle on the reccommendation of my bass teacher. I changed the pickups on my bass and then started loving the pick again (didnt like it in retrospect after the change). So now I use both. Picks to push the aggressive stuff, and finger style for the rhythm and melodies. Suits me Great!
