What is the best way (or some good ways) to play a chord in bass fingerstyled? Thanks

I'd post this in Todd Johnson's forum - he's the master of chordal bass.

I use Thumb, Index, Middle, and Ring fingers each on a different string and pluck them all at the same time while fingering the chord.

Yup, thumb index middle (and the ring if needed) plucked at the same time for me as well. Strumming is hard to do with subtlety on bass, so simultaneous plucks are usually the best way to get clean chords.
