Clip-Tap???

I play a 5 string and I think it is the best bass in the world. I will say that the only problem is when I play on my E string, I hit the B-string and it makes an unbearable clip noise.

I was taught to use the rest technique to hit the strig to stop but this only happens on the E and B. The B drowns out the E somewhat.

Anyone know how to fix this???

There are some sharp guys on the technique forum.

You'll come closer to getting an answer there than here. Sounds more like a technique prob than a setup prob.

Actually, there's a device that mutes strings (imaginatively called the "Bass Mute") that can be set to mute only the B-string, and it can be engaged or disengaged with a flick of a switch.

I will shift this off to Technique. Simply put that you stated you hit the B whilst trying to play the E and thus causing the B to sound.

Try using a lighter touch too.
