I'll keep this short;
Whenever I play, standing or sitting, I always cock out my elbow.

Crude drawing (MSPaint ftw):

(I - how I normally play)
(II - playing with a straight (as an arrow!) plucking hand)

I was wondering if there's any way to drop that habit?
Lately my arm is giving me hell.
The only option I see is to play with the bass around my ankle, but then I'd have to hold the neck up with my fretting hand.

It might be something else entirely, but I haven't really used my arm for much else in a while.

floating thumb kind of calls for your elbow to be cocked up(opposed to out)out still needs to be kind of cocked.

Why not hit the gym and do some shoulder excercises to build up your arm strength.

Honestly I could never and won't try to understand why people like to wear their axe's down past the pelvis (lol).

Try resting our forearm on the bass a little bit to give you some support and see if that helps at all.

well i bend my elbow, but i bend it so its pointing backwards, which i find more natrual feeling than having it pointing way to the side(and i think it looks better too)
