coordinating 3 finger with left hand

Hey, ive been playing bass for about 2 years, mabey 3.
Im very comfortable playing with three fingers, but i cannot seem to coordinate it note for note with my left hand. Like i have no trouble playing bachs first cello suite with just two fingers, but if i try to play it with 3, well lets just say bach would be turning in his grave.
I would like to get it to the point where i could coordinate my left hand perfectly with three fingers, as well as i can with two.
Any suggestions? Or should i just go back to the good old "practice makes perfect?" thx

Im not exactly an expert at 3 fingers, but what has helped me is to play each note twice. I had problems with hand dependence in the beginning too, so i just drilled 3 fingers till it felt comfortable and my right hand was on autopilot you might say. Once I did that it became alot easier.
