Correcting my technique

Well ive been playing for a little while now and ive realised my technique is rather crappy and id like to correct it before its to late. I was playing this last night... and ive numbered the fingers i was using on my fretting hand as i played, shocking:P.

Gotta love my fantastic tab. But anyway being that this song is fairly fast that was the only way i was able to play it, but i know it is far from the correct technique. So what do u guys suggest i do to correct it, is there something i can practice to help and what is the correct way of playing that song .

Here's one way. Notice I changed a couple of frets. The 2nd and 3rd bars can be played in a few different fashions.

Thanks man, i tried it this way and it was actually easier. But please keep the ideas coming cause my overall technique really sucks and until i can afford my next teacher ive gotta learn myself. By the way ill post the whole tab.

Thats about it, song then goes into like 1 note per bar then repeats 8ths for many mesures.
