Cramp/weakness in stum hand

Hi,
I was using Rotosound Swing Bass Long Scale Strings 40.60.80.100 or 45.65.80.100 later and then moved on to Ernie Ball coated 45.65.80.100, and they just seem too tight on all three sets. I even have a low set-up on a USA Fender Precision bass. It makes gigs hardwork and takes the enjoyment out of it as sometimes my strum hand becomes very cramped up and weak. It's actually something that's really starting to bother me.
I've been playing for 4 years, I play fast paced hardcore punk, recently it's become alot worse. I can't think of anything with my technique that could be causing it. I have post this in here along with the string forum just incase.
Any help or advice would be very much appreciated!
Thanks
Matt

I have two basses and sometimes when I'm playing the one with the lower output at a show, I unconsciously try to make more volume by plucking harder and it wears on my right hand - sometimes this even makes me fret too hard, too. The fix for that is remembering to turn up my amp so I can pluck with a lighter, faster touch.

Let your amp do the heavy lifting so that your hands are more free to just make the notes. How's it feel to have a fellow bass player to suggest that you turn up?!

It might be tendonitis or carpal tunnel syndrome. I suffered a severe case of tendonitis in both hands several years ago and couldn't play for a few months. I had pain and numbness in my wrist and hands. Sounds like you might be experiencing the same thing.

You need to get some potassium in your system by either supplements or raw bananas. I used to cramp up really bad until l started taking potassium. It's not nearly so bad now. Try it out it really works:-)
