Damn... Since I opened this can of worms, I must try to keep it going.

Have you tried to lower your bass a bit?.. how does that feel? ...noticed that when you play down-neck you kinda have to turn your wrist alot.
At some point your whole torso clenghed to take a note down there..
I play lower, it hurts my picking (not an issue for thee) but I can raise the neck quite "upright" and play with much straighter wrist, kinda getting my palm in line with fretboard so that my pinkie isn't closest and indexfinger furthest from frets.
