Cross-Hammer and Pull-off Dead notes

On a slap book by stephan ritcher i see a tech. called cross-hammer where you hammer entirely with the left hand on a different string.

Like from G to G in octaves but only with a single right hand attack. How do you do that? Just hit harder or what?

On mel bay's complete blues bass book, theres written to pull off to a dead note(on the same string). How'd i do that? Aren't 2 attacks from the right hand needed to play a dead note after a certain note.

Thanx.

The left index finger dampens string (deadens)
and ring finger performs hammer-on pull off.

You could also mute with other fretting-hand fingers.
