No, this isn't a question about incontinence--although at my age it could be. I've been playing now for 7 months and the next level of my own incompetence (I know, a lot of 'i' words) I've uncovered is the build-up of unmuted sound. I need some advice. is this primarily a left-hand responsibility (sorry lefties)? I tend to want to dampen with the palm/heel of my right hand, but it seems a little fundamentally wrong. Advice? Thanks,

It really depends on the situation, but on anything with more than 4 strings I tend to mute the higher strings with my fretting hand and the lower ones with my picking hand.
