'As' is one of my alltime favorite Stevie Wonder tunes. No disrespect to Nathan Watts, but I believe the line was played on record by Scotty Edwards.

Anyway - that technique - sort of a cross between Dominique Di Piazza and Gary Willis?

I kind of liked his right hand technique on the end choruses but I thought he needed to dig into it a little more and not play so regimented. When he played the end choruses, he started to dig into it some more and it started to have a spark, but the rest of the song wasn't very funky at all compared to the original. He played the notes fine but he could have used more soul and less accuracy. Don't know how much I'd blame on that technique, but I definitely woud have used traditional fingerstyle for the verses and got heavier with the thumb and fingers in the chorus. Wasn't much joy or much funk in his playing...would have liked to seen more.

You mean using the thumb and three fingers? That's called the Matthew Garrison technique by some. Check the sticky posts in the technique forum for more info.

Looks almost like a banjo technique.
