How does he play the fast slap line on one string?

Is he double-thumbing or just thumb/plucking one string?
I dont think he can play that just thumping...

Watch the DVD, there are actually multiple versions where you can watch just 1 member. I don't own but when I saw it looked like he was indeed double thumping through much of the song.
