Question do thumb picks cause damage?

hi guys.. i haven't bought a thumb pick yet. but does it cause damage to the strings by hitting it with continous slapping? thanks!

Probably not severely enough to cause concern, if at all. The strings can take a surprising amount of beating than most people think. The strings go through a lot more stress when playing slap anyways. Don't worry about it!
