Does any other left handers play a right handed bass upside down?

I have been thinking about this lately. I grew up always having a right handed (actually strung for a right hander) fender P bass that was my dads. I've been playing it upside down and have learned alot playing this way and don't think I would want to re learn in on a lefty, obviously I can't slap like this or get some of the notes on the bottom on the fretboard. Just curious to see if anyone else plays like this

I believe Jeff Schmidt plays a bass strung upside-down.

I think Jimmy Haslip and Wayman Tisdale do.

I'm not sure of Wayman's specific technique, but he does slap

Well if you bought a lefty flipped the nut, and restrung it the strings would all be you're used to them being and you would have a relatively "normal" bass in terms of playability, knob placement, cutaway, etc.

I, too, learned to play bass on my father's axe. He was left-handed, and I played his bass right-handed. That was about 39 years ago, but I still remember the sensation when I bought my own right-handed bass; I had to learn to play my new bass almost as though I were learning to play for the first time, but the period of adjustment didn't last very long.

My advice would be to do what ever makes you comfortable, but don't be afraid to stretch yourself by mastering skills that make you [temporarily] uncomfortable.

I think the bass player for the Eric Gales Band (who was Eric's older brother) played that way.

I did that for about 4 years and finally switched to "true lefty" about 2 years ago.

Yes, you can slap like but you'll work twice as hard as a guy playing the "right" way....personally, I don't regret making the switch.
