Double Thumb question about G string

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a silly question, and it's only come to mind after finally getting double thumbing down a bit. After I hit the D string, my thumb comes to rest on the G string and when I get into it, a lot of times my thumb will push the G string off the fret board when hitting the D, and it will make this "plink" sound that sorta sucks. when I come from a more outward angle instead of downward it doesn't seem to happen much. this question is dumb I know, but I'm still interested to hear if anyone else has this problem.

Nope. When I double thumb, I usually bring my thumb down so that it makes contact with the string in front of it and the fingerboard at about the same time, minimizing pressure on the front string, and this way I can flick my thumb back up faster.
