Just wondering. I never had a problem with my fingers getting caught on the string when popping, but maybe that's because my nails are always very short. |

I can't double thump, and I don't really intend to, but I've heard many a wanker at GC doing it. |

It's just another technique to achieve more speed in your play. It also depends on the music style you play -i'm sure not all bass player need it.
If you think you need it ,learn it and use it if not leave it for the other to play.
