double thumbing alternation?

Sign in to disble this ad
say you're double thumbing, and you play a downstroke and an upstroke on the D string, followed by a note on the E string (or the low F#, if thats what floats your boat ). would you keep it in strict alternation (i.e always up/down/up/down) or would you hit the low string on the upstroke (so you would be doing down/up/up)? i know lots of pick players (and especially guitarists) advise strict up down alternation, whats your take?
tata chaps!
Kyle

i'd just slap the E string, so up/down/slap, my take is learn to pop on the same string, that way if you have 3 notes in a row, you can pop the third, and move one. Pretty much with out breaking stride. I double thumbed Donna Lee this summer when I went to Berklee for the Basslines classes they have out there, thats just the way you do it.
