Now i watched the Victor Wooten slap technique and started trying to learn the double thump today, im not doing too good so far but for those who can do the double thump how much time of practice did it take for you to get the nag of it?

It took me kind of a while to get used to using it naturally. It's been a couple of years now and I am definetly still practicing. |

In his video, Victor demonstrates this by doing the thumb plucking from his elbow. However, it also works well and yields a different tone to do the down/up stroke from the wrist. Additionally, if playing fingerstyle lines I like to use the fleshy part of the middle of the thumb but for slap/pop sounds I like to use the corner of the thumb-tip. |

| | Registered User | | Join Date: Jan 2006 Location: Benton Harbor, Michigan | | | what i've just discovered for a while i'd had a hard time getting the rhythm of it down which is one of the biggest things to mastering it, so instead of two thumps and one pluck, i've started experimenting with two thumps and two plucks, not only is it helping me get better with popping with my middle finger but it's helped A LOT in thinkin with triplets but without the triplet feel, i can't really explain but switching it up like that has helped me a lot. It's gonna be a while before i can do it all on the same string though! |
