Any of you guys able to do the double-thump/pop section towards the end of Victor's solo in "Sinister Minister"? I've been working at it for a while, and I'm not sure if I'll ever get it up to speed.
So I'm asking this question because that section makes me wonder if Victor's the only person who can really do it the right way. I've seen people cover that song, but they always seem to skip that part of the solo and improvise something else.
So can any of you shredders out there nail that part, or what? |

------------19---15-----------
0--15--19---------------------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------
------------17---14-----------
0--14--17---------------------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------
------------15---12-----------
0--12--15---------------------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------
0--12--14---------------------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------
The first set of three notes I slap down and hammer on and the second two I pop and pull off. He also adds in some muted stuff and some other variations which you can probably figure out on your own. Sorry if thats not very clear or if that's not even the part you were talking about.

As of the part above, I can play it. I can play the whole goddamn song. I never recorded it, but there's a 15 second clip of me playing the bassline with lots of variations on youtube. I'll send you the link if you want, but it's not the part you are looking for

The basic pattern is thumb down, thumb up, pop. He does that pattern over the song's chord progression, and it sounds awesome.
Anyway, I already know how to play the part, I just can't play it nearly as fast as Victor. I started this thread to see if anybody out there was able to play it the way Victor does up to speed.
I'd still really like to see your youtube clip, because you obviously learned this song the hard (and more admirable ) way, by transcribing it yourself, and would be cool to see how close you came to what Victor has in his book. |

Instead of double thump and single pluck, I always use single thump and double pluck, which is a lot easier. Just keep practicing, and you'll eventually get it fast enough. I used to practice that song 8 hours a day (during christmas break, for about 4 or 5 days)
But here's the 15 second clip (my camera only lets me take 15 seconds of video) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyE503mUncw

But I'd still like to hear from somebody who can play that section I'm talking about the way Victor does... | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
