Duck Dunn Five Long Years.

One of my all time favorite albums from the 60's is Freddie King's "Gettin Ready World" Had the original vinyl but lost it in a house fire. Downloaded it from Amazon though. Duck Dunn is half the reason I dig the album. Anyway on "5 long years" he plays killer walkin blues but the notes have great sustain for a flats player? He kinda slides into the notes almost sounds fretless but not.
Is it all technique or ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7G_b239mbc

Mostly, yes. My bass with flats can sustain like that all day. But mostly it's the approach he takes on the instrument.
