I even did all of Tommy Iommis lines to get a little flavor back in the days, and most of the lines are pretty intuitive, which I think is another good skill to use. My opinions, and certainly that may not be your style of music. |

Listen closely to these songs many, many times on various systems (iPod, large stereo) and try to pick out the notes.
I cannot state strongly enough how important it is for musicians to develop their ears in such a way (yes it's work, but it pays off). Imo musicians who can pick out notes by ear are superior to those who cannot.
When used correctly, tabs can actually play an important role in ear development. Tabs, however, should only be studied after a musician has spent quite a bit of time getting as far as he can on his own (up to 10 hrs per song). |

If not, most of your rock/pop tunes over the years are fairly simple, some more harder than others. The main thing is to try to learn songs you love, and that will keep you focus and motivated. |
