Extreme Metal Bass: Helpful material

I don't know how large or small the population of TB users is that play metal or extreme metal, but I found a book you may find very useful.

Amazon.com: Extreme Metal Bass (Book/CD) (9781423497158): Alex Webster, Cannibal Corpse: Books

It's written by Alex Webster, and is loaded with info on the genre, in terms of bass line writing, technique for both right and left hands, rhythm, and exercises.

I'm really only scratching the surface, because there's a ton of well worded and well explained things in this book that have made me noticeably improve over just a couple days.

Just throwing this out there, I know there's not a lot of info to be had on the genre, and this helped me immensely.

Cheers!

Just ordered my copy today, and can't wait for it to get here! Just hope there isn't too much centered around the low B, I only got a 4 banger.

It's all based around the low B. Literally the whole book. But do not fear, I only have a 4 string too. For the finger exercises I didn't worry too much. Just played the stuff he suggests starting on the E rather than B.

The songs in the book are a different story though!

Well I wouldn't say all of it is based on the low B. I don't see why you couldn't translate many of the exercises and such to a 4 string.

Drop D + Full Step Down maybe? then you're only missing the B

I was actually more worried about lines that stretched from the low B the the G, but its not really that big a deal.

Another question, in the description, it say it comes with playalong tracks, do these come as just normal recorded tracks or guitar pro style midi?

And one more question, is the book primarily in tab or notation, I'm a bit rusty on my notation, but if so, I can make it work. Thanks dudes!

Some lines, mostly left hand exercises, do stretch from B to G in terms of strings. Not that big of a deal i'd think, a lot can still be used.

The tracks are MIDI tracks, both with and without bass, and having Alex's signature heavy attack and clank you can VERY easily discern bass from all else.

The book is in both tab and notation, the whole thing.

I am hoping this is the BEST BOOK FOR METAL... I ordered a copy just because I was curious.

The man can play (I love how the bass sounds super processed)...
