Fast Note Muting

What is the basic idea of how fast note muting works? Geddy Lee did it a lot on Power Windows. The guy from Tower of Power did it a lot as well. Is it something handled with the right or left hands? And how is it done so fast?

Its called 'Ghost noting' it shouldnt take long to master, just practice slow with the note/muting and gradually build up the speed, its more handled in your left hand technique, playing a note followed by a fingered mute, Jaco Pastorius also does this a lot..

Just keep listening to tower of power tunes, and then start learning the songs, it will come to you.

Cool. Thanks guys. I can actually do it to a certain extent, just not quite as fast as some of the better players out there. I'm just not quite sure how they can mute the notes so fast. Guess it just takes practice like anything else.
