Feeling Odd

I have been playing bass for a little over 9 years now and have noticed lately that I'm popping on the G string with my middle finger and the D with my index. Is this normal or am I selling myself short. I used to pop index on all strings. I'm noticing this lately and it's bothering me. Is something wrong???

I've always played like that. I learned to do it that way because that's how Stu Hamm explains it in his first instructional video. No problem with that. Besides, you need both fingers for popping double-stops.

Thanks for the solid encouragement. I'm glad it's not something I'm doing wrong but most of all I'm glad it's not a short cut of sorts. It definately allows me to move around the neck faster thats for sure. I'm still having trouble with 2 major techniques. Both of which Victor Wooten uses a lot. The Down Up Pluck and the doube pop on one string are all intimidating me. I suppose I just haven't spent enough time practicing them.

I find I use different fingers for popping too, don't ask me which, its become a habit.

Having more fingers available and able to do that has to be an advantage. For fingerstyle is it better to pluck with one finger, or be able to use 2? Same principle.
