Felt covered plectrums?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm sure I read an interview somewhere with Paul Mccartney
where he said that he was once given some "special" sort of felt covered plectrums from Carol kaye.
Anyone ever seen any of these?

I've seen them around, and have also made them using a regular pick and Dr Scholl's moleskin. Try it with a thinner pick than you normally use first and experiment til you get what you're looking for.

I've seen felt plectrums, but not felt covered ones.

I have some. They're sometimes called Ukulele picks

Got them from eBay.

They are interesting. Kind of a percussive shhhhhthup sound on rounds and half rounds. Definitely do not substitute for callused finger style, though. These and a set of flats on a Ric do emulate the Macca sound. (Not my cup 'o tea)

PM me with your mailing address and I'll drop one in a envelope for yah.

There's a shop in germany which offers more than 1000 picks. felt covered, made of felt, whatever.
ToneToys.de
Barely, only available in German.

I have had a felt pick yeeeears ago, bought it from a pawn shop which had a lot of contra-guitars, and that other old european stuff
But this was back in the days when I was playing guitar. I didn't realise that this is something different, something for bass.

These were plentiful ( every music store) when I was a kid playing ( 70's). I always had one or two0 in my pick, yes pick, box.
