On the pick side, I saw something very interesting the other day at the music store I frequent, some chap had dropped of a whole buch of demo picks.

The interesting part is they were paper, heavy duty paper such at that ised in speaker cones but paper none the less.

has anyone else seen this sort of thing or knows who makes them?

P.s. Sorry for little bit of a thread hijack.

The guys at GC gave me 2 or 3 of those paper or cardboard picks because I heard about them here on TB. I don't remember the brand name, but they were awful.

I think just a good ole' Fender heavy with a few tone adjustments is the tried & true way to play with a pick.

they're called pikcards cause u can get them on a card, useful in a tight situation. I used 2 use them on my acoustic, they gave a nice sound. Have found theyre only gud for bass when ur doing a slow relaxing bassline, but then againe fingers are better for that.

I use Dunlop 2mm, although I've just ordered a dozen wool autoharp picks to try out. I'll post a report when they arrive. When I was a kid, there used to be these huge felt picks for basses. I haven't seen one in decades. I was trying to find an old one on e-bay when I bumped into these autoharp picks. They appear to be the size of regular guitar picks. We'll see what happens...

I like to use Jim Dunlop Big Stubby picks 2.0 and 3.0. With this picks you can play very easy and fast over fat bass strings.

I used to swear by Dunlop triangle Tortex 1.14mm, but I found that Clayton acetal triangle 1.26 mm works even better for me..

..they take even longer to wear out, and they have just as much harmonics and less of a plastic sounding "click" to them at the same time, so you get clarity and warmth in your tone

- yet another "guitarist" showed me these, and I haven't looked back since.

Well, I finally got the autoharp picks, and they're great! I can get the speed and facility of the pick, with the fingerstyle sound. Life is good.

For the times that I play with a pick, I swear by the Dunlop 2.0 Gator Grips.

I mute with my left hand unless I'm aiming for the palm muted sound.
