finger per fret and jumping strings

Hey guys.. just curious how everybody plays stuff like this:

G ---------7-------------
A ------7----------------
E -5---------------------

or

G ---------8------------
A ------8---------------
E -5---------------------

Do you use your ring finger and then fret the next string on the same fret using your pinky?

I usually use the one fret per finger idea and move my ring finger or pinky completely off of one string and then to the next, or occassionally I will bar/roll it so that i am pressing the frets on both strings.

However, I just started taking lessons and the teacher uses two different fingers on different strings for the same fret.. not sure if I see any value there though?

id barre it, using one finger per fret is just plain awkward in this instance

I go back and forth depending on what the next thing I have to play is. I tend to be able to spring to the next note quicker if I don't roll it. But if I'm going to hang on a pattern for a little while, I'll roll it.

I'd use index-pinky-pinky in both cases.

Index-Ring-Pinky for me.

Otherwise I'd probably end up fluffing one of the notes.

i wonder if it is worth it for me to practice using my pinky only two frets up from the index.. seems overly complicated and unnatural, although I am sure my current style did at some point though too..

I barre with the fretting hand and rake with my index on the plucking hand.

Index, bar with the other two frets with my ring finger AND my pinky at the same time. Upright technique really. I only use my ring finger and pinky finger independently when I really have to.

For the first one, I use index-ring-pinky,
For the second one, I use index-pinky-pinky.
