Fingering for "Tighten Up"

Sign in to disble this ad
Is this the fingering you would use for "Tighten Up" by Archie Bell and the Drells?

I find going back and forth between fret 1 and fret 4 pretty tedious especially when I have to do it over and over for pretty much the whole tune. Should I be able to do this? Or should I move those fret 1's up to the third string and shift over for each bar?

Here's another version. I'm not sure which is more accurate.

In other words, should I be doing this?

It pays to think out loud.

Right or wrong, I'd be going with the easiest reach especially considering the repetitive nature of the groove. If something makes my hand hurt, there's got to be a comfortable alternative.
