Fingers dont feel comfortable anymore

Sign in to disble this ad
Ive found recently that i dont feel as comfortable playing with my fingers anymore

my finger kinda catches for a split second on the string, and it just doesnt feel smooth. For it to feel right i have to play really hard(with steve harris style clicking)

I have no idea why im having this problem, so im playing with a pick more and more, however im nowhere near as fast with a pick(since im bad at alternate picking)

its not as bad on my jazz as on my fenderbird(I built it, with cheap hardware, so that may be a cause),
Im guessing its the strings, but i havent changed anything on my jazz, and that has become less comfortable aswell......

so any ideas? its really bugging me

How are your callouses? I sometimes get a ridge on my plucking fingers for whatever reason and it will catch the string. My wifes nail file works great for keeping my callouses nice and even.

Try the elixir strings, they have a thin coat of some sort of plastic on them, they feel WAY smoother for both the board hand and the plucking hand.
