Fingerstyle Exercises

Sign in to disble this ad
I was wondering if you guys would help me out with, developing faster fingering and more mellow sound. Ive been playing for a year and I haven't quite developed extreme control over my finger plucking. When I start to play faster I start developing a muddier tone and making more mistakes. Are there any exercises that can develop the quickness and dexterity of my fingers ???

I want to also try to look into using more then two fingers.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks a lot

I've toyed with the idea of playing with 3 fingers. I try to incorporate it into my practice but I always forget. Who is the fastest bassist 2 finger player and the fastest 3 finger? Not asking for the whole world just what you can think of. Which has most control? Just wondering.

There's a sticky in this forum for exercises which are all really good for developing dexterity, speed, and control.

Excercise sticky

Practice slooowwly. One of the paradoxes of practice is that working slowly allows you to train your muscles more effectively. Also use a metronome with you exercises. Start out at a tempo you can play cleanly and in time, then bump up the tempo 10—20 bpm faster, when you get to a tempo that you can't handle, go back down to the last one you could and stya there for awhile, then speed up again. if you do this diligently, you'll be surprised at the improvement.
