Okay this story is extremely weird. I live in a condo in Mississauga Ontario, I'm jamming out to MM's Blast and all I here is a knock on the door. I was thinking it's because I was having such an awesome jam, and my neighbors called security. BUT low and behold this woman(pianist) in her 30's comes to my door saying she needs a bassist for a gig on Saturday. If it would be rock, funk, motown or R&B I would be fine. However, it's Jazz and I have only a minute clue of how to walk and such.
So I'm asking for advice,
Please Help Me
P.S. I don't know if I'm going to solo or not but some scales, modes would be appreciated. She's also giving me charts and all that other stuff.

Use chord notes on at least beats 1 and 3. On beats 2 and 4 you can use chord notes, scale notes or just about any chromatic passing note that fits. Keep it simple, and at this point it's better for you to arrange what you'll play instead of improvise.
I guess you can say that you don't want to play any solos, if you feel uncomfortable with it as a newbie in jazz.

| | | | Yea I did, I told her that I was quite good at funk, motown, r&b etc. And she said are you okay with jazz, I said no but I can figure something out, and she said okay. I told her its not gonna sound like Mingus and she laughed. She still didn't bring the charts.
Chord notes????
I'm guessing any note in that specific chord ?
i.e C+ c, e, g, c ?

2 beats per chord: Root, passing tone.
This is super basic. I'm not a good walker but I've been going through Friedland's book. |

You're correct with the chord notes, on a C maj (C) the chord notes are C, E and G. On a Cmaj7 you have the same notes plus the 7th, which is B.
You can also play two similar quarter notes after each other once in a while. Unless you always do it, it will sound like walking bass.
