forearm sore, yet i play very ergonmically?

I play with my bass very high up and yet the other day when i was tapping i got a pain in my arm and it is sore now, earlier i was slap poping and when i flicked my arm to slap i got a sharp ting and my forearm is very sore, should i just take a break from playing? this is the first time this has happened and are there any arm stretches i can do? The drummer in my band does a crazy arm stretching exercise i am doing now (as seen in YouTube - ‪Advanced Drumming Techniques & Percussion Drills : The Drum Stretching Technique‬‏) and the fact that i am just now starting to do could have any impact on my forearms?

Word to the wise... Any video on YouTube from 'Expert Village' should be treated with extreme caution.

No-one's entirely certain if they're a wind-up or deadly serious, but a good many of them spout a bucketload of utter tosh.

A much better series of vids (IMO) comes from TB's own Havic5:

Critique of One-finger-per-fret technique
Developing Safe Right Hand Technique for Bass Guitar
Developing Safe Left Hand Technique for Bass Guitar

It sounds like some aspect of your posture is causing problems, best get it sorted out before any long-term nastiness sets in.

Pete.

I'm a picker and have had issues with my right hand cramping in the meat under the thumb to the point that it felt like I was holding onto a golf ball.

Saw a doc about it and he recommended simply warming up awhile before playing as well as altering my technique somewhat so I was not gripping the pick as tightly.

I understand you are describing a finger-style/popping issue, but I believe that some muscle warm-up as well as a lessening in tension may be a good first step if this persists. After all, athletes need to warm up before playing - and we are musical athletes.

only reason i used that as a reference is from a quick google check of drumming strecthing, our drummer was a very serious drummer in his high school band was taught it though the the fellow jazz drummers so i know it is pretty legit as it does help him, didnt mean to use a expert village video xD
