Question For the fretless folk out there

We all know there is one, and only one, place to put your finger down to get the exact right note
(barring moving to another string of course).

how exact a standard do you hold yourself to, before you know everyone else knows you are off?

Define 'on'. I guess I'm anal, but one of my favorite parts about fretless is moving in the space between intervols. So I'm not always 'on' the note, but I'm where I intend to be.

Also, I like being a touch flat or sharp depending -- a little disonence can sound very cool.
