I'm getting a fretless put together at the minute with Roto Jazz flats (my first time with flats...I tried a fretless a couple years ago and the strings felt like they were from a nylon strung classical guitar - could they have been flats? - I could cope with them now I've been playing for longer I think, they just threw me a little back then) - I've just realised how much help it'll be for the players NATURAL EAR PITCH...cool

Also - I was thinking of doing some slapping on it....whats this "slap plate" thing someone mentioned?

didnt look at the link, but from what ive gathered its a small metal plate that is placed at the very top of ur neck where you would slap - protecting you fretboard. But this would take away the natural dull thuddy percussive sound, a la claypool, and add the fretted sound
