Fretting hand cramps up when playing piano

I'm very curious to hear about those of you who play at a fairly advanced level of piano as well as on bass, but anything I get on this subject will help.

I've been playing piano since I was 5, and reached a pretty high proficiency. I picked up the bass not too long ago after a very long (many years) hiatus and have been solely focused on it and not my piano. I play an Ibanez with a nice thin neck because my hands are small, and I've gotten to a pretty decent level in the short time I've picked it up again.

HOWEVER...I find that going back to playing piano (a friend's Steinway Grand), that my left hand seems to cramp up A LOT after a very short period of time and I have to stop playing. I can't even make it through a slower five minute piece sometimes. I just get pretty badly fatigued in the left hand. My right hand is ok, and ironically my finger picking speed has actually improved my right hand endurance and speed on the piano.

Has anyone else ever heard of or seen this, or have any guesses on what might be going on?

Thanks in advance!

I jump from piano to bass to hand drumms to guitar, The time I notice it is when I start playing bar chords on the guitar it causes my left arm to ache up to the elbow(same thing sometimes on piano but never as bad).

What is your practice regime like? How many hours are you on each instrument a week?
Do you have a bass teacher? Piano Teacher? What do you actually play on piano (Blues in G, Scarlatti, Brahms, Joplin, Scriabin, Hayden, Bud Powell, Herbie Hancock...)? Any sports, basket ball, weight lifting, tennis, banjo?

Ok, to answer the laundry list

I probably practice 1-2 hours a day on bass, negligible on piano (because my studio won't fit a Yamaha U3 at the moment and there's no digital piano in the ~$2k range worth its salt right now IMO... )

No bass teacher at the moment. I had a bass teacher many years ago for about two years on and off, and I had a piano teacher for 12 years while learning piano back in the day but I myself have teaching credentials for students up to Grade 6 in piano from the Royal Conservatory of Music (i.e. about the level of Fr Elise), played for most of that time except in the last four years where I haven't had access to a piano regularly.

Piano-wise, I'm mostly concentrating on Beethoven (Sonata in C minor is the one giving me trouble), some Brahms and Chopin, and a smattering of various modern tunes. On the bass, I play mostly rock, trying a lot of fast lines lately from Rush, Ozzy, RHCP but also like Floyd, Eagles, etc. if I'm tired and just want to play. Pretty eclectic, but that's what I like.

Otherwise, I drive a desk for a living and weight lift for about eight years doing some pretty serious weights. I thought about this last one, but I've been cutting back trying to narrow down what the heck is going on, but it doesn't seem to make a noticeable difference.
