Thumbs up Funk/Disco style string skipping technique

I heard Rod Stewart's "Do you think I'm sexy" on the radio yesterday, and decided to download it to take a closer look. Man, what a great, fun exercise.

I find for myself, it is best playing the root with the index finger, and the octives with the 2nd, and 3rd fingers.

Cheezy song, but tons of fun to play....I am thinking of pushing my top 40 band to cover it, I bet it would get a great response for the ladies.

What other songs demonstrate this technique? Any other pointers?

Chic-
"dance, dance, dance"
"everybody dance"
"my feet keep dancing"

(dance being a recurring theme here )

RHCP-
"right on time"

I keep tellin' the kids here that Flea's figure on that tune is a Disco convention...or as a 'drum Yoda' I used to play with said-
It's actually an ago-go bell rhythm.

Other Disco tunes with the same s***-
"YMCA"
"Macho Man"
I don't have to tell you the band responsible for those...do I?

another very similar song from the same era as Rod Stewart's - Rolling stones' "miss you"- some disco octave skipping.

Jamiroquai- alright (although this might be slapping)

octave skipping also turns up in some odd contexts, eg. rock with a pick;

the Cure; the walk (live version), doing the unstuck, the baby screams, icing sugar

the Stranglers; shah-shah a-go-go, hanging around

Psychedelic furs; president gas, aeroplane

Thanks a lot guys, I am having a lot of fun with this, but am sidlined to it until the big blister on my 3rd finger (right hand) heals. PS, it is better to pop water blisters, or leave them alone?
