Make your own for nothing!! Just get some rubber washing-up gloves that fit you pretty well. Cut off as many fingers as you need - 2 or 3 - for your right (plucking) hand. Then get some old beaten up drumsticks that have been thrown away and saw off a few inches near the tip end.

Attach your drumstick tips to the end of the rubber fingers. Permanent (super) glue or you could even use a small screw inserted from the inside of the finger tip and screwed into the drumstick tip, with some padding to protect your finger tips.

Easy!!

I may possibly be selling these. I made a pair of my own, and I'm waiting for the plastic dip to dry. I'll post pictures up when they are done. if I do sell them, would there be interest in purchasing a pair?

here's a live version of Steam (see the funk fingers in action!):

Do not sell them. Tony Levin owns a patent on them, and while he encourages people to create their own sets for their own use, he forbids people to make money on them by mass-producing them for sale.

ahh, then that would be a big "nevermind". lol. I can post up how to make them, I suppose. I believe I'm going to make a 2nd or 3rd set after I find a way to attach them to my fingers. after that, I can make a guide with detailed pictures and what not so people can make their own. I have zero experience with woodworking, and it only took me a couple of hours to make them (most of that time was letting the plastic-dip dry).

:EDIT: am I the only surprised at how much more volume and punch I can get out of these things?!? it's almost twice as loud as my fingers, and I've been plucking with 3-4 fingers for about 8 years!!! even a pick can't touch the tone of these things!

Do you have a patent number for that? I sure couldn't find it... I searched under for Levin in all fields and then any combination of music, guitar or bass. Nothing came up except for some guy's weird musical instrument from the 70's and that was a Jeffery Levin.

Tony had posted on his site that he owned a patent, and had that message - it's not there any more. But I would ask, if only for the good karma and politeness.

Here's a photo I took a while ago of mine. Hope this helps visualize how the straps are attached.

Here are some better photos, by request, with closeups of the straps and how they attach to the sticks. They're basically stretchy material with a velcro closure, probably bought at a medical supply house, threaded (and optionally, glued) into slots cut lengthwise into the sticks.

And here are a couple of sound clips:

Here's a clip from the studio (pre-vocals) of "Dancing on the Hill," which features me playing the Funk Fingers through a distorted amp.

And here's a sound clip, from a live performance with Second Story.

And from my album with Din Within, "Awaken the Man" - this short clip from the guitar solo section.

(Shameless plug - more sound samples from the album available at Amazon, iTunes, Napster, eMusic, CDBaby, Target.com, and more!)

Wow, ya get a lot of 'punch' with those, huh? Sounds great, nice work.

Thanks! Yeah, they can really present a real "PUNCH" when you get the hang of them (which really doesn't take that long). I dig 'em, but use them sparingly...
