Funk styled bass

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi, my main style of bass is funk, varying from rock funk to metal funk to a marginal amount of mellow stuff. Seeing as when I practise and jam I play funk most, I have gotten "good" at playing such branches of funk like slap, the thick bassline and double thumbing etc. I was just wondering what are some of the other assets to funk rock. I listen to flea, and some old stuff ie bootsy and sly, but could anyone list a few of the other techniques involved.

Thanks, Ace(Yes thats my real name )

Hmm...

I'm not sure if it's funk rock, but if you are looking for more techniques, maybe you should check out Abraham Laboriels "Beginning funk bass" video. He sure uses a lot of weird techniques there, such as hitting the bass with the palm of his hand, and it sure is funky.
