Funny discovery regarding double thumb

Sign in to disble this ad
I just had to come here and share a personal discovery with people who don't ask me to just shut up about playing bass.

Anyhow, I was lying on my bed cursing my insomnia when I decided I'd noodle on my bass. But this time I didn't sit up. And it turns out double thumbing is really way more easy and fluent for me when I'm laying on my back. Fast runs, Wootenish tricketry.. It just became a lot easier. Having my elbow behind the body of the bass seemed to do something for me as I was sort awkwardly able to mimic the position standing up and even though keeping the position was annoying, playing so was still a lot easier for me than it is in the position I've been practicing it for the last decade.

Interesting.
