G string 'falls' off the fretboard...

Last thread for the night...

Anyway, I'm fiddling about with my bass and I've noticed that often when I'm playing on the G-string, when I press it to the fingerboard it slips off the fingerboard and onto the side of the neck.

Any ideas as to what I can do? I play a lot on the G string and I only have problems on the one bass.

It's closer to the edge on this bass, and you're dragging it. Time for some technical practice to make sure you press the string downwards on the fingerboard, with no angle in your force. I had this happen to me before.

Is your neck a bolt on? If so, is it bolted on correctly, where theres enough space for the G string to be played?

If not, start there.

either it's your technique or the neck on your bass isn't straight or there's an issue with the bridge. have any photos for us?

The nut might need to be adjusted as well.

if it is a bold on, try pushing the G-side of the headstock toward the upper horn (E-string). if this works, you can try shimming the G-string side of the neck pocket.

I had this problem with my Warwick, and at first I thought I would just change the string spacing( <3 warwick bridges). Then after a week of being lazy I realized I was only doing it when I was wearing zip neck sweaters. It was my technique and bass positioning from when I was overly cautious about metal zipper to bass contact.

Long story short, it was all in my technique that was causing it.

To answer the thread, it was me being stupid. Yay correct finger technique.
