Glass Slides

Sign in to disble this ad
So Ive been getting into fiddling with guitar slides on bass a la MArk Sandman from Morphine.

Glasses with water in them like filled in the middle have a cool ressonance to them.

Anyone got tips for sliding on bass?

I bought a heavy brass slide about 8 months ago and messed around with it for a while; it was fun, but in the end it proved to be more of a gimmick with few practical applications.

I play around with a slide now and then. It's considerably harder to do (for me, at least) than on a guitar due to the size of the wire wrapping on the strings. I can only get it to sound right on a fretless with flatwound strings.

The real trick is to properly mute the strings as you play. As weird as it sounds, it's easier to do the slide with a chromed eye hook than it is with a standard slide.
