Ive been playin bass for close to two years and Im now startin to try to develop my slapping. What songs should I start out on to develop as a slapper. I dont want to get into slap crazy stuff , just add a couple cool slap lines to some funk. Almost like what flea does. Things that have taste

Alright by Jamiroquai, Just a basic 1 - 8 slap pop very simple so you can work on your technique and time.

First slap song I learned was Power Mad by Primus but I recommend Suck my Kiss by RHCP and Take the Power Back by RATM.

"Is It Luck?" (Seas of Cheese)

Kidding.

Lots of flea's stuff would be good to start on - and look at some of 311's stuff. Also, instead of having others throw song names at you, listen to some albums till you hear something tasty that you think would be cool to know, and woodshed till you get it. I do think getting some basic instruction on technique when you start is best in the long run. It pays to have the rudiments correct.

Oh - first slap song I played out was "what was I thinking" - but we did a pretty fast and wild version...

Great song to start on.
