Green Onions - BT & the MG's

I have been practicing along to the original '62 recording of Green Onions by Booker T. & the MG's (recorded without Donald "Duck" Dunn). The recording is in F. If you play this song, do you start on the 8th fret of the A string or the 1st fret of the E?

One musician I asked said they just drop to E (obviously they do not have a tenor sax in the band). Anybody else do this?

Green Onions

This was recorded with organ bass, right?
Just let the organ player do the bassline

I'd do the first fret of the E.

I've always played it in F, at first fret.

I don't think so... The liner notes credit Lewis Steinberg on bass.
