Question Half detuned?

Sign in to disble this ad
HELLOOO! So, today i was playing ''toxicity'' by system of a down and i had to detune the lower 2 string to C (e) and g (a) because those are the only string i use on that song
,but when i finished playing i started playing something that i really liked using a combination of the normal tuned higher 2 strings G and D with the 3rth string which was tuned at G. And i really love the sound but i cant play the same notes when i use normal tuning. And it just seems ''wrong'' to me to use one string with different tuning that the others.. :/ what should i do?
Also the ''riff' i made just seems like a good intro to a song but not for the entire song, what happens if i then want to change and use the normal tuned bass o other parts of the song?
Any ideas? Thanks =)

don't sweat the tunings ...jimmy page had a couple unusual ones for his acoustic tunes .....once you write a riff it's pretty hard to undo it.....having said that most heavy bands decide on a tuning and go with it on all strings ..... from what you describe SOD is prolly a whole step down then drop D ....my students call it drop C LOL .....i just call it whole step down and drop D!
