I'm familiar with some of Finger's other work, and he is a very good player.

Yep, that Pro Tools works wonders

What's the point of playing funky if you can't hold the groove?

Since the original poster said he was impressed I was surprised when I saw the clip. It's nothing that the guys playing my local dive bars can't do.

But when someone is a noob and posts obvious noob playing everyone is much more generous with their praise.

Also, I think the thing no one here is considering is that this is obviously a quick recording in the guys bedroom for fun. it's not a finished, polished recording that went through a professional studio and had a lot of money spent on it's recording and making sure everything is perfect.

Of course I should know after being in bands for over 15 years that other musicans are usually the worst critics, and will pick something apart that most non players would enjoy.

I guess I listened to it as a regular listener, and didn't try to tecnically pick it apart as a player, I just enjoyed it right away as a whole.

To me that is the sign of a good piece, I got into it right away.

To me he was saying this is fun to play and listen too.
+1. I don't know, all I can say is that I enjoyed it. And no, it wasn't dead on perfect. But, so what? What law states that music HAS to be perfect all the time, anyway?

The guy above said it best.

He can play, but nothing special to be admired for.

You make a good point here. Maybe some of the guys with a problem about the timeing on the clip are into orchestras or something. Just about every famous/ huge rock act I go to see plays everything a little fast or not, nail on the head on, but I still enjoy it. They still play the song well and convey the energy and emotion.

To the guy who says, "nothing nobody in my local club can't play." What clubs do you go too?

I mean, when I go see a band you either don't hear the bass player, or there doing covers and it's the usual holding it down bass playing. If it's an original act, unless it's something like RHCP, the bass player doesn't do anything resemling the clip.

So, how would you even know all the bass players you see could hit that. I think you were exaggerateing a wee bit.

I thought it was awesome. The fills were a bit overdone but overall it was a very catchy song. I dig his tone too.
